
US city allows paying utilities with Bitcoin
The authorities of Williston, North Dakota, announced a partnership with the payment processor BitPay. Under the agreement, residents will be able to pay for utilities using the first cryptocurrency.

“We are the first municipality in North Dakota and the third in the country to offer this service,” the statement said.
\n\n\n\n
City officials noted that the city will assess the initiative and, afterwards, study the possibilities of expanding it to licensing and waste disposal.

BitPay’s fee will be 1%, compared with 3% charged by Google Pay, Apple Pay and PayPal.
\n\n\n\n
“We are exploring more payment methods to meet the growing demand from customers,” the administration said.

Earlier, the Miami-Dade County authorities announced the creation of a working group to study the possibility tax payments in digital assets.
\n\n\n\n
In February 2021, the Miami City Commission voted to study options integration of Bitcoin into municipal infrastructure.
\n\n\n\n
The Jackson, Tennessee city administration will consider the possibility of paying salaries to civil servants in digital gold.
