In the United States, the founder of the Argyle Coin cryptocurrency project, Jose Angel Aman, was found guilty of orchestrating a $25 million Ponzi scheme. The decision of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida говорится в пресс-релизе by the Justice Department.

Prosecutors charged Aman in September 2020. According to authorities, the offenders offered investments in uncut diamonds, which they allegedly cut and sold at a markup. A portion of clients’ funds was used to pay interest to early participants.

The Argyle Coin project was created to sustain the scheme. Aman claimed that the token was backed by diamonds. The court sentenced him to seven years in prison and ordered $23 million in restitution to the victims.

In November, FBI agents arrested the organizer of the large Ponzi scheme, Matthew Pirsi, after he tried to escape.
