US drops charges of laundering $1 million through the darknet against Russian DJ Denis Kaznacheev, aka Guttersnipe and Cast
US authorities dropped the extradition request and charges of laundering $1 million against Russian DJ Denis Kaznacheev, who performs under the stage names Guttersnipe and Cast. On Facebook, said his manager Deniz Gluk.
The defence for Kaznacheev said the information was confirmed by prosecutors in Germany.
The Russian was accused of laundering money through darknet accounts between 2010 and 2020 as part of a cyber mafia.
Kaznacheev’s lawyers argued that scammers used his photos to create the accounts, and he himself vigorously denied guilt.
Petition calling for the musician’s release has been signed by more than 73,000 people.
As reported earlier, Denis Kaznacheev was arrested in Germany in May 2020 on the basis of a warrant issued in December 2019 by a court in one of Maryland’s 24 districts. He was later released on bail. In November 2021, a German court ordered his extradition to the United States.
