US house sold as NFT for $175,000

Real estate investor Adam Slipakoff purchased a three-bedroom house in the U.S. state of South Carolina in the format of a NFT. The The Block reports.

The price of the home at 149 Cottage Lake Way, Columbia, was 175 000 USDC. The deal was handled by Roofstock onChain, the real estate agency’s division specializing in Web3.

This is the company’s first NFT-format sale. Roofstock onChain’s chief blockchain officer, Jeff Thompson, called the deal an ‘important milestone’ in the rental housing sector.

According to Slipakoff, he was able to buy a fully insured and rental-ready home with a single mouse click.

Earlier, a seven-story office building in New York was put up for sale as an NFT for 15 000 ETH.

In May, an apartment in Portugal was purchased for 3 BTC without conversion to fiat.

In March 2021, half of a house in St. Louis put up for auction as an NFT.
