Vitalik Buterin Highlights His Biggest Disappointment with Ethereum

During an AMA session, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin shared his disappointments with the blockchain ecosystem, pointing out issues with community operations and values over the past year.

The developer emphasized that he was particularly disheartened by comparisons of the platform with more “open” networks that accept any applications, including those from the “casino” sector. Buterin described such criticism as “inverted morality” and noted that these values deter him from participating in the industry.

However, he mentioned that in personal interactions, many users still share the original principles of the Ethereum community. This has been a source of motivation for him to continue his work.

Buterin also highlighted that the Ethereum Foundation might need to more actively support certain initiatives. He added that he still feels responsible for the community and is ready to continue working towards the shared mission.

Back in January, the Ethereum co-founder confirmed that the ecosystem would continue to scale primarily through L2 solutions.
