Buterin’s comment was made in response to information about an upcoming Ethereum Foundation report. The organization plans to share financial data for 2022 and 2023 ahead of the upcoming Devcon SEA event.

Internal costs account for about 38%, primarily related to research and development. External expenses make up 62%, directed towards grants to various organizations such as Nomic Foundation, Decentralization Research Centre, L2BEAT, and 0xPARC Foundation, aimed at strengthening the long-term growth and resilience of the Ethereum ecosystem.
