Voyager Digital CFO resigns after five months in post
Ashwin Prithipaul, Voyager Digital’s chief financial officer, announced his resignation. According to a press release.
According to the release, Prithipaul decided to resign “to pursue other opportunities.” Founder and CEO Steven Ehrlich will assume his duties.
“On behalf of the board of directors and management, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Ashwin for his valuable contribution, particularly for his efforts in Voyager’s restructuring,” said the lender’s chief.
According to LinkedIn, Prithipaul joined Voyager Digital in May 2022. Previously, he held the same role for nine months at the DriveDigital cryptocurrency exchange, and before that served as CFO at Galaxy Digital.
On July 5, Voyager Digital filed for bankruptcy. The company noted total liabilities estimated to be between $1 billion and $10 billion.
The broker is among the creditors of hedge fund Three Arrows Capital (3AC). The latter failed to repay a debt of 15 250 BTC and $350 million USDC, so in June Voyager Digital sent him a default notice.
Alameda Research, the entity linked to CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, turned out to be Voyager’s second-largest borrower after 3AC, at $377 million.
In the recent auction for the sale of the crypto broker’s assets the most favorable bid was submitted by FTX. In June, Alameda Research provided Voyager Digital with a $500 million loan, which Voyager Digital had not yet filed for creditor protection.
In September repay a debt of $200 million to the bankrupt broker.
