Warner Music Group signs partnership with NFT game developer

Warner Music Group (WMG) and the Splinterlands team, associated with an NFT project, agreed to collaborate.

The deal will open up opportunities for artists working with the label to create and develop P2E-games as a new source of revenue and to elevate fan engagement.

Splinterlands has registered more than 1.8 million users, of whom 450,000 are active daily. The tactical NFT card game was launched in 2018.

“I\’m looking forward to a collaboration at the intersection of gaming, music, crypto, NFT, DeFi and blockchain,” said Jesse Reich, co-founder and CEO of Splinterlands.

The deal will complement WMG's other blockchain initiatives. In 2021 the label agreed with Genies to create avatars and NFT goods. In January WMG entered into a partnership with the digital collectibles platform Blockparty.

“The Web3 ecosystem continues to evolve. WMG aims for music to play a central role within it,” said Oana Ruxandra, Director of Digital Technologies and Vice President of Business Development at WMG.

Earlier, Forklog reported that over the past six months the number of Splinterlands battles had surpassed one billion.

Earlier Warner Music Group agreed with NFT project The Sandbox to open a music-themed park.
