Waves Enterprise to implement decentralized identity in blockchain voting

The Waves Enterprise blockchain platform and Ontology have signed a memorandum of understanding. The parties are interested in applying decentralized user identification via blockchain.

The Ontology-developed Decentralized Identity Solution (DeID) will be used in electronic voting, recently launched by Waves Enterprise.

According to the developers, authentication and identification of users are weaknesses in any electronic voting system, even if it is fully implemented on blockchain and uses advanced encryption.

“To launch the voting process in some types of legal entities, we need to integrate our e-voting platform with KYC service providers, because reliable user verification is an important requirement. The Ontology DeID can help achieve these goals,” said Artem Kalikhov, Product Director at Waves Enterprise.

Earlier in September, the Waves Enterprise and Rostelecom blockchain voting system was deployed in elections in Kursk and Yaroslavl regions. It used a unified Russian system for identifying and authenticating users, which is centralized and not accessible to corporate users.

In August, Ontology and Waves announced the creation cross-chain infrastructure for the DeFi space.
