WazirX reported a major cyberattack on July 18. The damage exceeded $230 million, causing the platform to be unable to maintain balanced backing for its assets and halt withdrawals. Experts at Elliptic concluded that North Korean hackers were behind the breach.
The WazirX team is working on reimbursing funds and intends to reverse all transactions made after the breach. The exchange’s clients criticized the “social loss strategy,” which involves partially freezing all users’ funds for compensation purposes.
