Winklevoss brothers to produce film about Reddit’s war with Wall Street

The American film company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) has acquired the rights to adapt an as-yet unwritten book about the battle between users of the r/WallStreetBets subreddit and Wall Street hedge funds. Deadline reports, citing sources.

According to the publication, the work titled ‘The Anti-Social Network’ will be written by Ben Mezrich—author of ‘Bitcoin Billionaires’ about the founders of the Gemini cryptocurrency exchange, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss—and the best-selling novel ‘The Accidental Billionaires’. The latter provided the basis for David Fincher’s film about the creation of Facebook.

The project’s lead producer will be Oscar-nominated Aaron Ryder, who recently signed a deal with MGM, according to sources. They added that the executive producers will be the Winklevoss twins.

Deadline reports that on January 29, MGM moved quickly to sign the deal, amid fears of competition.

Earlier, СМИ сообщили that Reddit users began buying silver and pushed its price up to almost a six-month high of $28.45. However, subscribers of r/WallStreetBets опровергли свою причастность to inflating the precious metal.

Last week, private investors from Reddit began to buy shares of GameStop, Nokia, BlackBerry and AMC Entertainment, to prevent major players from sinking the companies.
