Wirex secures $15 million in funding and opens developer roles in Ukraine

Wirex, the British payment-processing service, has attracted $15 million from strategic investors, ForkLog reports.

The funds form an interim financing round ahead of the next, larger Series B round of $60-80 million, scheduled for 2022.

The funds will be directed toward developing the Ukrainian R&D centre and attracting professional developers. With their help the company plans to create new fintech products and scale its payments services after the recent product launch in the United States.

In early February, we successfully launched our Wirex App in the United States. We expect that a major Series B round will be completed by 2022, which will significantly increase the company’s value,” said co-CEO and co-founder Pavel Matveev.

Currently, Wirex products are developed by more than 250 Ukrainian IT specialists, and the development team is continually expanding.

Wirex develops products based on microservice architecture and blockchain. We are now seeking professional developers and IT specialists for remote work from all over Ukraine. We plan to develop payments and trading tools, integrate new blockchain protocols, DeFi applications, and scale the product to new markets,” said Ruslan Kolodyazhny, CTO of Wirex and head of Wirex R&D.

Earlier in December 2021, Wirex provided residents of Ukraine with access to buying and exchanging cryptocurrencies, and allowed them to open DeFi-based savings accounts.
