Wiz Khalifa’s X Account Hacked to Promote Meme Coin
On November 3, unknown individuals hacked the X account of rapper Wiz Khalifa, which boasts 35.7 million followers, and posted a message promoting the fraudulent meme token WIZ. This was highlighted by on-chain detective ZachXBT.
In the tweet, the perpetrators, posing as the musician, announced a token giveaway, claiming he had worked on it with his team. At the time of writing, the post has been deleted.
Fifteen minutes after WIZ was issued on the Pump.fun platform, its price surged to $0.002518. However, within an hour, it plummeted by 84% to $0.00001419 as holders began to offload the coin.
According to DEX Screener, at the time of writing, WIZ is valued at $0.000008563 with a market capitalization of $10,000.
Aggregated data from Solscan indicates that the two largest holders acquired just over 155 million WIZ tokens at launch, selling them for a total profit of $160,000.
According to ZachXBT, the same perpetrator behind the hack of AI bot developer Truth Terminal’s account, Andy Airey, on October 29, is responsible for promoting the coin.
Back in July, rapper Doja Cat’s X account was compromised to promote a scam token.
