Wolf of Wall Street producers to issue NFT collection for the film

Red Granite Pictures announced a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFT) for the film The Wolf of Wall Street, directed by Martin Scorsese. Bloomberg reports.

“This is a way to protect the film’s intellectual property,” said Randy Hermann, chief financial officer of Red Granite Pictures.

NFTs will be sold at prices starting from $100. Owners will become members of an online community where they can chat with like-minded individuals, purchase on-set props, and vote on topics that could form the basis for sequels and spin-offs.

The company expects tens of thousands of eager buyers of the film’s collectible NFTs. The online community participants will also be invited to themed parties and other offline events.

On April 10, Red Granite Pictures obtained a preliminary court order prohibiting more than 150 websites from selling goods that infringe the film’s intellectual property.

The proceeds from the sale of the NFT collection will be donated to charity to support young filmmakers, assist women and minority groups on Wall Street, and promote financial literacy. The list of such organisations is not yet determined.

The 2013 release The Wolf of Wall Street grossed $392 million worldwide on a budget of $100 million. The leads were played by Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie and Jon Bernthal.

In October 2022, Warner Bros. launched Web3-initiative WB Movieverse, under which it opened NFT for the film The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

In September, director Quentin Tarantino and Miramax reached a settlement in the lawsuit concerning a collection of tokens inspired by Pulp Fiction.

Earlier, a collection of 1,000 NFTs of Hollywood actor Anthony Hopkins on the OpenSea marketplace sold out in under 10 minutes.
