Worldcoin user base surpasses 1 million

Six months after official launch Worldcoin, transactions involving the app exceeded 22 million; monthly active users reached 1 million, and with 4 million wallet downloads the wallet became the sixth-most popular in the world.

DAU crossed the 100,000 mark, and WAU reached 500,000.

“The need to digitize identity verification and financing is becoming increasingly urgent. We know this is only the beginning,” said Tiago Sada, head of product at TFH.

The main product of the startup—the World ID protocol—is based on zero-knowledge proofs. It is a tool that allows people to verify their identity using biometric data or a phone number.

Iris scanning takes place via a dedicated device — the Orb. For completing verification, users receive a reward of 25 WLD (~$46.8 at the time of writing).

According to the dashboard on Dune, the number of tokens in circulation rose from about 100 million to 111.12 million since launch. The figure represents 1.11% of the total supply of 10 billion WLD.

Earlier, Altman acknowledged the existence of problems at Worldcoin. In his view, operational processes and overcoming resistance to the collection of biometric data remain challenging tasks.

Since the project launched, authorities in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Kenya and Argentina have taken an interest in its activities.
