If the plan is rejected, the holding company would consider the sale of the trusts premature, though they would not oppose such a scenario, representatives noted.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2023, Genesis filed a lawsuit against DCG, demanding the parent company repay loans totaling over $600 million.<\/p>\n<p>In January 2024, Digital Currency Group announced it had met its obligations to creditors, paying approximately $700 million to the lending platform. The latter <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/developments-in-genesis-and-celsius-cases-coinbases-eu-plans-and-other-crypto-industry-events\">disputed this<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the same month, Genesis <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/genesis-settles-with-sec-jihan-wu-returns-as-bitdeer-ceo-and-other-crypto-industry-developments\">settled<\/a> a case with the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span> regarding the joint staking program Earn with Gemini. The platform agreed to pay a $21 million fine after fully repaying its debts to creditors.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Genesis <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/genesis-to-pay-8-million-in-settlement-with-new-york-regulator\">reached an agreement<\/a> with the New York Department of Financial Services.
