They can send money to recipients in approximately 160 countries using the company&#8217;s stablecoin, PYUSD.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis new option allows U.S. Xoom users to send money to friends and family abroad with no transaction fees,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In a press release, the company cited a <a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&#038;l=en&#038;o=4133397-1&#038;h=147449091&#038;u=https%3A%2F%2Fremittanceprices.worldbank.org%2Fsites%2Fdefault%2Ffiles%2Frpw_main_report_and_annex_q323_1101.pdf&#038;a=World+Bank%27s+Q3+2023+report\">World Bank report<\/a> indicating that the average cost of sending $200 globally is just over 6%. Meanwhile, PayPal aims to expand the use of its stablecoin.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cProviding U.S. Xoom users the ability to conduct cross-border money transfers using PYUSD aligns with our goal of promoting the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies,\u201d emphasized the company&#8217;s Vice President, Jose Fernandez da Ponte.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>At the time of writing, PYUSD ranks 12th on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/ru\/categories\/stablecoins\">CoinGecko<\/a> with a market capitalization of $190.6 million. The leaders in the segment remain USDT and USDC.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Snimok-ekrana-2024-04-04-v-18.51.00.webp\" alt=\"Snimok-ekrana-2024-04-04-v-18.51.00\" class=\"wp-image-230005\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Data: CoinGecko.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>PayPal launched its \u201cstablecoin\u201d in August 2023. The dollar-pegged asset was issued by the infrastructure crypto company Paxos.<\/p>\n<p>The payment giant&#8217;s initiative sparked mixed reactions within the crypto community. Some viewed PYUSD as a catalyst for the mass adoption of digital assets, while others pointed to centralization risks.<\/p>\n<p>JPMorgan analyst Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou stated that the coin could benefit Ethereum by increasing the total value locked in the network.<\/p>\n<p>Experts at Bank of America suggested limited adoption of PYUSD due to competition from central bank digital currencies and established stablecoins. Analysts at Nansen confirmed initially low user demand for the asset.<\/p>\n<p>The launch of PayPal&#8217;s \u201cstablecoin\u201d raised concerns in the U.S. Congress due to the lack of a regulatory framework for such assets.
