{"id":12472,"date":"2024-04-11T15:41:37","date_gmt":"2024-04-11T12:41:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/meta-unveils-next-generation-ai-chip\/"},"modified":"2024-04-11T15:41:37","modified_gmt":"2024-04-11T12:41:37","slug":"meta-unveils-next-generation-ai-chip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/meta-unveils-next-generation-ai-chip\/","title":{"rendered":"Meta Unveils Next-Generation AI Chip"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Meta Corporation has <a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2024\/04\/introducing-our-next-generation-infrastructure-for-ai\/\">announced<\/a> plans to integrate its proprietary AI chip into the company&#8217;s products.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Last year, the tech giant showcased the specialised MTIA processor, designed with specific artificial intelligence tasks in mind.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/telegram.org\/js\/telegram-widget.js?22\" data-telegram-post=\"forklogAI\/4172\" data-width=\"100%\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Initially, the chip was intended for machine learning models, which underpin recommendation systems enhancing the performance of various applications and technologies of the corporation.<\/p>\n<p>The next generation of MTIA is part of a large-scale programme to develop custom processors tailored to Meta&#8217;s specific tasks and systems. The new version doubles the computational speed and memory bandwidth of its predecessor.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"836\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image1.gif\" alt=\"image1\" class=\"wp-image-230354\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">AI chip MTIA. Data: Meta.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MTIA is already in use in Meta&#8217;s data centres, supporting operational AI models. The company observes positive results from the technology, which allows for the allocation of more computing resources.<\/p>\n<p>By controlling the entire technology stack, Meta achieves greater efficiency compared to commercially available third-party processors.<\/p>\n<p>The developed chips operate alongside the existing infrastructure, as well as with new, more advanced equipment to be deployed in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Meta is investing in its own infrastructure.
