This new functionality will be available following the upcoming launch of Avail’s mainnet, expected “in the coming weeks.”

On April 24, the project team introduced Turing — an environment for testing scalability and other critical aspects of mainnet operations.

Avail is positioned as a data availability layer for Optimism, Validium, and other solutions operating on top of it. The technology will allow for off-network DA placement and verification, serving as a key component of the modular network structure concept.

The solution is designed to reduce blockchain load by offloading data and enhancing scalability “in all directions.” This approach ensures transaction security and correctness, providing reliable operations beyond the Ethereum mainnet.

The startup is led by former Polygon Product Director Anurag Arjun. Avail DA is one of three components of Avail’s full-featured architecture, which also includes the interoperability tool Nexus and the multi-staking feature Fusion.

Future Plans for L2 Integration

Avail representatives stated they are currently working closely with OP Labs to ensure integration with the Optimism ecosystem.

Developers of Orbit will be able to use Avail DA instead of relying on an external “data availability committee.”

“Using Avail will expand the range of possibilities available to Orbit developers, allowing them to freely choose suitable solutions according to their needs,” noted Arbitrum representatives.

Avail DA will also be integrated with the Polygon Chain Development Kit — an open-source software toolkit that enables the launch of new L2 solutions on Ethereum as part of the interoperability network component AggLayer.

Collaboration with StarkWare will ensure integration with the Madera rollup framework based on StarkNet, which allows for the creation of appchains.

“Among the greatest advantages of appchains are increased throughput and scalability,” noted StarkWare CEO Eli Ben-Sasson. “However, such solutions often lead to fragmentation among different platforms, creating significant challenges for users.
