{"id":14247,"date":"2024-06-11T17:01:10","date_gmt":"2024-06-11T14:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/parisian-ai-startup-mistral-ai-secures-e600-million\/"},"modified":"2024-06-11T17:01:10","modified_gmt":"2024-06-11T14:01:10","slug":"parisian-ai-startup-mistral-ai-secures-e600-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/parisian-ai-startup-mistral-ai-secures-e600-million\/","title":{"rendered":"Parisian AI Startup Mistral AI Secures \u20ac600 Million"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mistral AI has secured \u20ac600 million ($640 million) in equity and debt financing, valuing the company at $6 billion, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/06\/11\/paris-based-ai-startup-mistral-ai-raises-640-million\/\">TechCrunch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Series B funding round was led by General Catalys with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Nvidia, Samsung Venture Investment Corporation, Salesforce Venture, among others.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/7a70a8a6-4a2a-47c5-8483-d0b829f32ae6\">Financial Times<\/a>, Mistral AI raised \u20ac468 million ($500 million) in equity and \u20ac132 million ($140 million) in debt.<\/p>\n<p>The company was founded about a year ago by former employees of Google DeepMind and Meta. It focuses on open-source large language models and positions itself as a competitor to OpenAI, Anthropic, and others.<\/p>\n<p>Mistral AI initially raised \u20ac105 million ($113 million), and in December 2023, it secured an additional \u20ac385 million ($415 million) at a valuation three times lower than the current one. In February 2024, Microsoft <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/microsoft-commits-2-1-billion-to-mistral-ai-partnership\">announced<\/a> a long-term partnership with the company, investing $2.1 billion.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\n<cite>\u201cI am pleased to see new and existing investors renewing their trust in our business and providing new support for its expansion.
