Developers of the non-custodial wallet MetaMask have unveiled a ‘pooled’ Ethereum staking feature. The service lowers the entry threshold of 32 ETH (~$113,000) for ordinary users, reports CoinDesk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to ConsenSys representatives, the service will not be available in the US and the UK.<\/p>\n

“With Pooled Staking, MetaMask users have a simple way to participate in Ethereum staking through enterprise-level validators. They will retain full control over their coins, receive rewards, and enhance network security,”<\/em> the statement reads.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The publication explained that MetaMask lacks certain features that would help it stand out among competitors.<\/p>\n

In particular, Lido and Rocket Pool offer liquid staking tokens (LST), which can be used in DeFi protocols to increase the yield of operations.<\/p>\n

MetaMask does not plan to offer its own LST as part of the new service.<\/p>\n

In May, sources from CoinDesk reported<\/a> on plans to integrate Bitcoin support into the non-custodial wallet.<\/p>\n

Earlier, MetaMask introduced<\/a> ‘smart transactions’ to protect against MEV bots.<\/p>\n
