Take a look: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/eIIlncxD3I\">pic.twitter.com\/eIIlncxD3I<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 MARA (@MarathonDH) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MarathonDH\/status\/1803798769298756000?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 20, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>At the end of May, the company launched a 2 MW data center in the Satakunta region, home to 11,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>The thermal energy generated by the mining equipment at the facility will be used for heating and hot water supply.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis pilot in Finland is an important step forward in our strategy of global expansion and innovation within the paradigm of <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%D0%A3%D1%81%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%B9%D1%87%D0%B8%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B5_%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%B7%D0%B2%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%B8%D0%B5\">sustainable development<\/a>,\u201d said Marathon Chairman and CEO Fred Thiel.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The company referred to a recently launched project in Utah (USA) that uses landfill gas for digital gold mining.<\/p>\n<p>According to Thiel, data centers in Europe account for about 3% of energy consumption compared to the global average of 1-1.5%.
