Over this period, the amount increased nearly 5000-fold.<\/p>\n<p>In early July, 1004 BTC, dormant for over 10 years, began to move. The value of the cryptocurrency has increased approximately 77 times since acquisition.<\/p>\n<p>In March, an unknown miner <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitcoin-whale-cashes-out-1000-btc-from-2010\">sold 1000 BTC mined in 2010<\/a>. At the time, the bitcoins received as a block reward were valued around $0.28. The coins, consolidated from several wallets, were transferred to Coinbase, yielding about $68 million amid a <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitcoin-surpasses-historic-high-of-69000\">price peak<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the month, the owner of a 12-year dormant address <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/dormant-bitcoin-address-awakens-after-12-years-moves-35-million\">moved all 500 BTC<\/a>, worth nearly $35 million, splitting them into smaller deposits.<\/p>\n<p>In April, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/dormant-bitcoin-address-awakens-after-a-decade-moves-17-million\">246 BTC valued at $17 million<\/a> were moved from a wallet inactive for 10 years, and another <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/dormant-miner-moves-3-3-million-in-bitcoin-after-nearly-14-years\">50 BTC (~$3.3 million)<\/a> began moving after nearly 14 years.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in May, an unknown whale <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/dormant-bitcoin-wallet-awakens-after-a-decade-moves-687-33-btc\">transferred 687.33 BTC<\/a> ($43.94 million at the time of the transaction), which had also been inactive for 10 years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On July 14, a wallet inactive for nearly 12 years transferred 1000 BTC, valued at approximately $60 million.
