emerging threats in cybercrime.<\/p>\n<p>More\u2935\ufe0f<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kTPaDMkHaV\">https:\/\/t.co\/kTPaDMkHaV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Europol (@Europol) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Europol\/status\/1815328262693757229?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 22, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The agency believes that the creation of NFTs and the placement of other types of data on the Bitcoin blockchain is a potential source of cyber threats, despite the technical complexity of the process.<\/p>\n<p>The current and widely publicized topic of ETF approval could also attract the attention of criminals aiming to steal funds from unsuspecting users.<\/p>\n<p>ETF issuers themselves could be targeted, as they will hold large reserves in cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n<p>Europol expressed concern that the development of blockchain, DeFi technologies, and P2P networks will provide hackers with broad opportunities to conduct anonymous transactions, bypassing government control.<\/p>\n<p>The report pays special attention to AI-based tools that will enhance criminal methods and scenarios, including hacking cryptocurrency exchanges and protocols.<\/p>\n<p>Among other threats:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>an increase in phishing ads due to the lack of rapid filtering in some <span data-descr=\"large language models\" class=\"old_tooltip\">LLM<\/span>;<\/li>\n<li>the use of AI in &#8220;crime as a service&#8221; products;<\/li>\n<li>the distribution of fake <span data-descr=\"child sexual abuse material\" class=\"old_tooltip\">CSAM<\/span> files;<\/li>\n<li>deepfakes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;AI tools will lower the entry barrier for cybercrime, meaning that people with limited technical knowledge will be able to carry out cyberattacks and organize fairly complex online fraud schemes,&#8221; Europol noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Last year, one of the industry&#8217;s pioneers, Geoffrey Hinton, warned of potential threats associated with AI.<\/p>\n<p>Before that, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt stated that the technology poses an &#8220;existential risk,&#8221;
