This was stated in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tribunal-de-paris.justice.fr\/sites\/default\/files\/2024-08\/2024-08-26%20-%20CP%20TELEGRAM%20.pdf\">statement<\/a> by the Paris Judicial Tribunal.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe founder and CEO of the Telegram messenger was arrested on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 8:00 PM at [the airport] Le Bourget and taken into police custody,\u201d the authority specified.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The measures against the entrepreneur are linked to a judicial investigation initiated on July 8 following a preliminary inquiry by the J3 \u2014 JUNALCO department (cybercrime unit) of the Paris Prosecutor&#8217;s Office.<\/p>\n<p>According to the press release, the investigation targets an \u201cunnamed individual.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among the 12 alleged offenses are the provision of \u201ccryptographic services for confidentiality functions without proper declaration, as well as cryptographic tools not solely intended for message authentication or integrity verification.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The alleged crimes also include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>refusal to provide information to competent authorities;<\/li>\n<li>complicity in storing and distributing pornographic images of minors;<\/li>\n<li>complicity in the purchase and offering of narcotic substances and other potential charges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Investigators are questioning Durov as part of procedural actions.
