The goals of an airdrop are:<\/p>\n<p>(i) distribute to community members [and not randos who will all immediately sell]<br \/>(ii) reward contributions to the project<br \/>(iii) be\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 vitalik.eth (@VitalikButerin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VitalikButerin\/status\/1828727585204842867?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 28, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cAirdrops are an interesting initial use case for <span data-descr=\"zero-knowledge proofs\" class=\"old_tooltip\">ZK<\/span>, blockchain-based identity\/credential\/attestation systems,\u201d<\/em> he wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Buterin referred to zero-knowledge proof technology, which allows the use of cryptographic proofs to enhance privacy.<\/p>\n<p>The Ethereum co-founder noted that the aim of an airdrop is to distribute tokens to genuine community members rather than farmers, reward contributions to the project, and be sufficiently <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%D0%AD%D0%B3%D0%B0%D0%BB%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%B7%D0%BC\">egalitarian<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cThese are precisely the properties that identity\/credential\/attestation systems aim to achieve. For those creating them, it makes sense to use token issuance as an initial use case for beta testing and refinement in competitive conditions,\u201d<\/em> he explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In response to a question about the biggest obstacles to such an approach, Buterin stated that it is a multifaceted entity that will evolve over time.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cIt is a complex problem. [\u2026] The developed solution can naturally be exported to better reward all kinds of currently uncompensated labor in the economy on a human scale,\u201d<\/em> he suggested.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Ethereum co-founder also noted that tokens need not be distributed for free; discounted sales are also possible.
