Data: <a href=\"https:\/\/defillama.com\/\">Defi Llama<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At its peak in June 2024, EigenLayer&#8217;s total value locked was $20 billion, which has since decreased to $11.357 billion.<\/p>\n<p>In April, the project <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/eigenlayer-to-launch-eigen-token-and-conduct-stakedrop\">announced<\/a> the launch of EIGEN and the distribution of 5% of tokens in the first season of Stakedrop. At that time, market participants <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/eigenlayers-airdrop-rules-face-community-backlash\">reacted negatively<\/a> to the lengthy vesting and regional restrictions. The main grievance was the token holding period \u2014 after claiming, EIGEN could not be moved, and the monthly unlock was only 5%.<\/p>\n<p>The project&#8217;s regional policy also raised concerns. The platform&#8217;s team decided to exclude users from the US, Canada, Russia, China, and several other countries from the distribution, and warned of blocks for using VPN services.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">EigenLayer Update<\/h2>\n<p>Eigen Labs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blog.eigenlayer.xyz\/introducing-the-eigenpod-upgrade\/\">announced<\/a> an update to EigenPod, making the restaking protocol &#8220;simpler and more profitable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade integrates a new system for verifying and managing the balance of Ethereum validators and EigenPod.
