In a modern context, it may refer to slingshots or devices used as a symbol of overcoming great difficulties with simple tools\" class=\"old_tooltip\">David&#8217;s sling<\/span>,\u201d said South Korean Defense Minister Kim Young-hyun in his opening speech. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He referred to Ukraine&#8217;s efforts to gain a technological edge over Russia by developing AI-powered drones that can overcome signal jamming and be deployed in larger groups.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe use of AI in the military significantly enhances operational capabilities. However, it is akin to a double-edged sword, as misuse can cause harm,\u201d Hyun stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul stated that discussions would include mechanisms to prevent autonomous weapons from making life-and-death decisions without human oversight. <\/p>\n<p>Participants at the Seoul summit hope to agree on an action plan to establish a minimum level of restrictions for AI in the military and propose principles for the responsible use of the technology, reflecting the doctrine of <span data-descr=\"a military-political alliance of several European and North American countries, established in 1949 to counter external aggression\" class=\"old_tooltip\">NATO<\/span>, the US, and several other countries.<\/p>\n<p>It remains unclear how many summit participants will endorse the document.
