{"id":17108,"date":"2024-09-19T16:32:57","date_gmt":"2024-09-19T13:32:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/k33-research-identifies-sui-as-solanas-fiercest-rival\/"},"modified":"2024-09-19T16:32:57","modified_gmt":"2024-09-19T13:32:57","slug":"k33-research-identifies-sui-as-solanas-fiercest-rival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/k33-research-identifies-sui-as-solanas-fiercest-rival\/","title":{"rendered":"K33 Research Identifies Sui as Solana&#8217;s Fiercest Rival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sui&#8217;s technical capabilities and the upcoming release of a gaming console could position the network as a competitor to Solana, according to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/k33.com\/research\/articles\/speculating-on-sui\">K33 Research<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts currently view Solana as the best alternative to Ethereum in the &#8220;<span data-descr=\"Layer 1 blockchain\" class=\"old_tooltip\">L1<\/span> wars,&#8221; but suggest that Sui might challenge this perception over time.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;Since August, SOL\/ETH has risen by 6%, whereas SUI\/SOL has surged by 115% over the same period,&#8221;<\/em> the report states.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Experts attribute this significant difference to a &#8220;correction of undervaluation,&#8221; acknowledging that the asset possesses the &#8220;necessary ingredients&#8221; for such growth.<\/p>\n<p>The blockchain, developed by former Meta employees, boasts a throughput of up to 297,000 <span data-descr=\"transactions per second\" class=\"old_tooltip\">TPS<\/span>, compared to Solana&#8217;s 65,000. Currently, peak actual values have reached 853 TPS versus 1504 TPS for its competitor. Sui also holds an advantage in transaction finalization time\u20140.48 seconds compared to 12.8 seconds.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1-1216.webp\" alt=\"1-1216\" class=\"wp-image-241456\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Data: K33 Research.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;Sui has developed impressive technology. [&#8230;] However, we have yet to see it surpass Solana in practice and in metrics such as average daily TPS,&#8221;<\/em> the specialists noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>They do not rule out this possibility in the future, provided there is continued user and capital influx into the ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>Another advantage is the anticipated 2025 release of the portable gaming console SuiPlay0x1, developed by the blockchain&#8217;s backing company, Mysten Labs.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/telegram.org\/js\/telegram-widget.js?22\" data-telegram-post=\"forklog\/39781\" data-width=\"100%\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Experts drew parallels between Sui&#8217;s device and the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/solana-unveils-preorder-for-saga-2-insights-into-the-new-web3-smartphone\">Saga smartphone by Solana<\/a>. Owners of the latter participated in airdrops whose value significantly exceeded the phone&#8217;s cost.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;The team has much to offer in the competitive L1 landscape. The market largely continues to view networks other than Ethereum as its competitors,&#8221;<\/em> the analysts pointed out.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A significant challenge for Sui is its tokenomics. The mainnet launched in May 2023, when tokenomics with low available supply and high FDV were &#8220;widespread.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>As a result, only 27% of Sui&#8217;s capitalization is in circulation, posing risks for current investors when new coins are unlocked in the future. In comparison, Solana has 80% of its supply in circulation.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-897.webp\" alt=\"2-897\" class=\"wp-image-241457\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Data: K33 Research.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mysten Labs positions Sui as a general-purpose network with high throughput, fast and cheap transactions, and a user-friendly interface for Web3.<\/p>\n<p>A distinctive feature of the project is its use of the proprietary programming language Sui Move\u2014a modified version of Move, originally developed for the Diem project.<\/p>\n<p>In July, Circle added support for the USDC stablecoin on Sui.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the Mysten Labs team tested offline transactions via mobile networks and radio waves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sui&#8217;s technical capabilities and the upcoming release of a gaming console could position the network as a competitor to Solana, according to a report by K33 Research.
