There is never a perfect time to leave a place you cherish, but now feels right. The six and a half years with the team have been an extraordinary privilege,\u201d wrote Murati.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The startup&#8217;s CEO, Sam Altman, thanked her for her contributions to the company&#8217;s achievements and support.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I replied with this. Mira, thank you for everything.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to overstate how much Mira has meant to OpenAI, our mission, and to us all personally.<\/p>\n<p>I feel tremendous gratitude towards her for what she has helped us build and accomplish, but I most of all feel personal\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sam Altman (@sama) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sama\/status\/1839028518996324755?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 25, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Hours after Murati&#8217;s announcement, it was revealed that Chief Scientist Bob McGrew and Vice President of Research Barrett Zoph had also resigned. Altman <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sama\/status\/1839093415226524114\">stated<\/a> that these decisions were made by mutual agreement and independently of each other.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Chen has been appointed as Vice President of Research, and Jakub Pachocki will replace McGrew.<\/p>\n<p>In August, OpenAI co-founder John Schulman <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/anthropic-lures-openai-co-founder\">left<\/a> for the rival AI startup Anthropic, while President Greg Brockman took an extended leave until the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The leadership changes come amid negotiations to attract new investments at a valuation of $150 billion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Altman has planned a change in the startup&#8217;s corporate structure to attract funding.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OpenAI&#8217;s Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati has announced her departure from the company, intending to pursue her own research.
