Gambaryan is a dedicated public servant who has devoted his life to upholding the law and protecting American values. His continued detention without cause is not only a violation of his rights but also poses a serious risk to his health,\u201d stated New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella.<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He urged \u201cdecisive action\u201d to ensure the safe return of the Binance executive to his family \u201cbefore it is too late.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\n<cite>\u201cWe have a duty to protect citizens abroad, and we call on the federal government to exert the necessary diplomatic pressure to secure his release,\u201d Formella added.<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The letter highlights Gambaryan\u2019s career at the US Internal Revenue Service, where he worked from 2011 to 2021, with a particular focus on cases involving digital assets.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\n<cite>\u201cGambaryan joined the international cryptocurrency exchange Binance, where he applied his law enforcement expertise to help Binance align its operations with US legal standards and international security priorities,\u201d the letter states.<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Law enforcement officials believe that recognizing Gambaryan as a hostage under the Robert Levinson Act would unlock \u201ccritical resources and exert diplomatic pressure, significantly increasing his chances for immediate release.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In February, Gambaryan and Binance\u2019s director for West and East Africa, Nadim Anjarwalla, were <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/binance-executives-detained-in-nigeria-amid-cryptocurrency-crackdown\">detained<\/a> in Nigeria following a meeting with the country\u2019s authorities. Along with Binance Holdings Limited, they were <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/binance-executive-allegedly-flees-nigeria\">accused<\/a> of tax evasion and money laundering. The company and its executives deny the charges.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of March, Anjarwalla <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/binance-executive-allegedly-flees-nigeria\">secretly flew<\/a> from Nigeria to Kenya. However, authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/fugitive-binance-executive-tracked-down-in-kenya\">tracked him down<\/a> there and arranged for extradition.<\/p>\n<p>In May, a court <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/nigerian-court-denies-bail-to-binance-executive\">denied<\/a> Gambaryan bail.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the conditions in the local prison, his physical health has <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/binance-executive-contracts-malaria-in-nigeria-court-hearing-postponed-to-june-20\">deteriorated sharply<\/a>. The executive suffers from a herniated disc, as well as bouts of pneumonia, malaria, and tonsillitis.<\/p>\n<p>In June, US Representatives French Hill and Chrissy Houlahan, who visited Gambaryan in prison, stated that he <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/us-lawmakers-highlight-deteriorating-health-of-binance-executive-in-nigerian-prison\">is not receiving<\/a> adequate medical care. Nigeria\u2019s Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/nigeria-refutes-claims-of-poor-conditions-for-binance-executive\">refuted<\/a> their claims.<\/p>\n<p>In September, the executive appeared at resumed court hearings on crutches, as he was denied a wheelchair.<\/p>\n<p>His wife, Yuki Gambaryan, has urged the US State Department to intervene.
