Exceptions have been made for US defense agencies and their contractors.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAs an American company that owes much of its success to the entrepreneurial spirit and democratic values of the US, Meta wants to contribute to the safety, security, and economic prosperity of America and its closest allies,\u201d the company stated in its blog.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In addition to the US, Llama is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-11-04\/meta-opens-llama-ai-models-to-us-defense-agencies-contractors?srnd=phx-ai\" title=\"\">available<\/a> to government agencies and contractors in the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. They are \u201cobliged to implement artificial intelligence ethically, responsibly, and in accordance with international law,\u201d Meta asserts.<\/p>\n<p>The blog notes the efforts of China and other US competitors to develop their own neural networks to enhance security.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, institutions associated with the People&#8217;s Liberation Army of China used Meta&#8217;s publicly available neural network to develop a tool potentially suitable for military purposes.<\/p>\n<p>China <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/china-develops-ai-commander-for-military-simulations\">developed<\/a> an AI commander for military simulations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meta has opened its AI technologies to US government agencies and defense contractors, as well as allies.
