Today is my first day at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/anza_xyz?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@anza_xyz<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m taking my talents to Solana.<\/p>\n<p>In my first 100 days, I plan on writing a spec for as much of the Solana protocol as I can get to, prioritizing fee markets and consensus implementations where I\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Max Resnick (@MaxResnick1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MaxResnick1\/status\/1866168109289160842?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 9, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cLast week was my final week at ConsenSys. Today is my first day at Anza. I\u2019m taking my talents to Solana,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Resnick&#8217;s decision followed significant layoffs at ConsenSys and a period of personal disillusionment with Ethereum&#8217;s development direction.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m tired of Ethereum losing to Solana. I want us to start winning again. But that means we need to start playing our game, not theirs,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MaxResnick1\/status\/1806815348609409312\">he wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In late November, the researcher <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MaxResnick1\/status\/1859228942000873658\" title=\"criticized\">criticized<\/a> the project&#8217;s roadmap:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cA roadmap should be goal-oriented, not solution-oriented. Ethereum\u2019s roadmap focuses on solutions, not problems.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In his article <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MaxResnick1\/status\/1856470994476773421\">Ethereum Needs to Dream Bigger<\/a> (\u201cEthereum Needs to Dream Bigger\u201d), Resnick noted that the original vision of the network as \u201ca public financial substrate for a new world\u201d had been \u201cground to dust.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cEthereum is tired and burned out,\u201d wrote the researcher.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He also stated that making decisions five years in advance is counterproductive. Given the pace of technological development, this is too long a timeframe.<\/p>\n<p>The researcher urged Ethereum developers to return to the original development direction and outlined five main goals for the network:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>block processing in one second;<\/li>\n<li>finalization in one slot;<\/li>\n<li>throughput of over 1000 transactions per second;<\/li>\n<li>simultaneous addition of multiple blocks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Three weeks after publishing this article, Resnick announced his shift to the Solana ecosystem and his new role at Anza. There, he hopes to achieve what he could not in Ethereum.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIn the first 100 days, I plan to write specifications for as much of the Solana protocol as I can. Priority will be given to fee markets and consensus implementations where I can bring the most value,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Anza is a research firm within the Solana ecosystem, developing the Agave client. According to Resnick, they have been \u201cquietly releasing critical updates for the network over the past year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another well-known Ethereum researcher and developer, Justin Drake, did not share Resnick\u2019s enthusiasm for Solana. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cSolana doesn\u2019t care about health. The only thing they care about is performance. They think about reducing latency and increasing throughput,\u201d noted Drake.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He believes that the \u201cEthereum killer\u201d is experiencing its \u201cgolden age,\u201d but this will soon end.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cCompetitive advantages in speed and throughput may be lost due to architectural constraints that hinder further scaling,\u201d stated the developer.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In Drake\u2019s view, prioritizing processing speed and throughput should be the focus of L2 solutions, while the main blockchain\u2019s primary task is to ensure security.<\/p>\n<p>On December 1, Justin Drake assessed Ethereum\u2019s achievements following the implementation of the Beacon Chain update.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ethereum developer Max Resnick has announced his departure from the ConsenSys team to join Anza, a company focused on Solana.
