In total for 2024, authorities sought disclosure relating to 2,253 users.<\/p>\n<p>The data indicate a significant rise in processed requests between October and December.<\/p>\n<p>Over the first nine months of 2024, the messenger did not grant any requests from Russia or Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Telegram founder Pavel Durov had <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/durov-reveals-user-data-disclosure-statistics-for-telegram\">cited statistics<\/a> on legal requests from several countries to disclose user data.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2024, French authorities<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/telegrams-pavel-durov-detained-in-france\"> <\/a>brought a <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/french-authorities-clarify-pavel-durovs-detention\">series of preliminary charges<\/a> alleging the messenger had failed to tackle purported criminal activity on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>The businessman was <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/pavel-durov-placed-under-judicial-supervision-with-e5-million-bail\">placed<\/a> under judicial supervision with \u20ac5m bail and required to report to the police twice a week. He is barred from leaving France until March 2025.<\/p>\n<p>In his first post after release, Durov announced <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/durov-announces-enhanced-moderation-on-telegram\">enhanced moderation<\/a> on Telegram.<\/p>\n<p>In September, the messenger began to <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/telegram-enhances-response-to-eu-authorities-requests\">process more promptly<\/a> and respond to legal requests from European authorities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2024, the Telegram messenger provided U.S. authorities with data on 2,253 users upon request, 404 Media reported, citing the Transparency Report bot.
