{"id":20217,"date":"2025-01-10T18:49:35","date_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:49:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/mica-will-boost-euro-denominated-stablecoins-says-jpmorgan\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T18:49:35","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:49:35","slug":"mica-will-boost-euro-denominated-stablecoins-says-jpmorgan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/mica-will-boost-euro-denominated-stablecoins-says-jpmorgan\/","title":{"rendered":"MiCA will boost euro-denominated stablecoins, says JPMorgan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) rules that took effect in the EU on 30 December 2024 have laid the groundwork for growth in euro-denominated stablecoins, according to a JPMorgan report, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/01\/10\/eus-mi-ca-rules-will-likely-boost-euro-denominated-stablecoins-jp-morgan-says\"> CoinDesk<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Under the law, only compliant stablecoins may be used as trading pairs on regulated markets.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, EU-based platforms have adjusted their product line-ups.<\/p>\n<p>MiCA-compliant tokens such as Circle\u2019s EURC have strengthened their position at rivals\u2019 expense, JPMorgan said.<\/p>\n<p>In November Tether <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-to-cease-support-for-eurt\">decided<\/a> to cease support for EURT because of the new legal requirements. The company\u2019s CEO, Paolo Ardoino, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-ceo-criticizes-mica-as-a-gift-to-banks\">criticised<\/a> the requirement to keep substantial reserves at financial institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Tether invested in European stablecoin issuers <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/kraken-and-tether-back-launch-of-eu-regulated-stablecoins\">Quantoz<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-invests-in-stablr-to-boost-stablecoin-adoption-in-europe\">StablR<\/a> as part of its new strategy on the continent.<\/p>\n<p>By November 2024, MiCA-compliant stablecoins such as EURC, Societe Generale\u2019s EURCV and Banking Circle\u2019s EURI accounted for a record <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/kaiko-highlights-2024-in-ten-best-charts\">91% market share<\/a>, according to Kaiko.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) rules that took effect in the EU on 30 December 2024 have laid the groundwork for growth in euro-denominated stablecoins, according to a JPMorgan report, CoinDesk reported.
