This is the view of MN Capital&#8217;s Chief Investment Officer, Micha\u00ebl van de Poppe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Is <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Ethereum?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Ethereum<\/a> dead? <\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the prime question. <\/p>\n<p>Trump has been buying mostly into <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24ETH&#038;src=ctag&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$ETH<\/a>, institutions are building mostly on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24ETH&#038;src=ctag&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$ETH<\/a>, but the price remains to be flat. <\/p>\n<p>Confidence is getting lost. <\/p>\n<p>My portfolio is mostly dedicated towards the Ethereum ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s next?\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/TtM5VICiSn\">pic.twitter.com\/TtM5VICiSn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Micha\u00ebl van de Poppe (@CryptoMichNL) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CryptoMichNL\/status\/1883545789953191978?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 26, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIs Ethereum dead? That&#8217;s the main question. [Donald] Trump is mostly buying ETH, institutions are primarily building on ETH, but the price remains unchanged. Confidence is waning,\u201d noted the trader.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Throughout January, the price of Ethereum <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/chart\/?symbol=BINANCE%3AETHUSD\">fell by ~7%<\/a>, despite the rise of many other assets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Van de Poppe pointed out the difficulty of watching other ecosystems thrive while one&#8217;s own positions do not grow. In his view, most market participants feel the same way.<\/p>\n<p>However, the expert emphasized the importance of strategy and patience:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cSwapping your coins for something from newer ecosystems does not automatically mean higher returns. No, there is a lot of emotional behavior involved, but one must be completely rational when it comes to portfolio decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In his opinion, 2025 will be positive for both the Solana and Ethereum ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>The expert believes that one argument for Ethereum&#8217;s growth will be low yields and interest rates. High rates are disadvantageous to Donald Trump, as they would increase his payments on government bonds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cLower yields are beneficial for DeFi, and this will benefit Ethereum,\u201d noted the trader.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%D0%98%D0%BD%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BA%D1%81_%D0%B4%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%BB%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%B0\">Dollar Index<\/a> will be weaker. Van de Poppe pointed to a +1 correlation between the ETH\/BTC pair and the strength of the US currency:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIf the dollar is weak, Ethereum is likely to outperform Bitcoin as interest in this asset grows.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The expert suggests that under Trump, the world will also see an increase in unrest, prompting people to shift from the traditional financial system to other asset classes, including cryptocurrencies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the regulatory environment for cryptocurrencies is likely to become more favorable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis will essentially help Bitcoin, but its capabilities within the ecosystem are relatively limited. Ethereum&#8217;s possibilities are limitless, and much is already being built on the network,\u201d emphasized van de Poppe.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In his view, these fundamental factors are sufficient to speak of positive prospects for the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The expert added that he does not always have to be right in his assumptions \u2014 \u201ccorrect decisions will eventually cover mistakes with a surplus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, historically, February and March have often been positive periods for Ethereum.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-qw.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXffkVEDUPX6EIFU4L3_foXL4WNsf9jIuGXUbBuEioiJsbaz14G8luMUMTK6bnkZPEpsvLi-1_Xv8r6GkjtQ6VGK_USFQnZwohd7_KzWSzU-D4v9ncdPlvz_bu1Wp6SwectcFhsHtQ?key=m0h3jOlDHi60huFi_NL-d0ls\" alt=\"\u042d\u043a\u0441\u043f\u0435\u0440\u0442 \u043f\u043e\u0441\u0442\u0430\u0432\u0438\u043b \u043d\u0430 \u0440\u043e\u0441\u0442 ETH \u0438 SOL \u0432 2025 \u0433\u043e\u0434\u0443\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Monthly ETH price change. March is almost as favorable a period.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At the time of writing, ETH is trading at $3050 after a significant drop \u2014 the price fell by 8.4% in a day.
