Their implementation will strengthen connectivity with <span data-descr=\"first-level blockchain\" class=\"old_tooltip\">L1<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Jones, director of the Optimism Foundation, added that the new solution will improve interaction between the base and second levels of Ethereum.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;We are here to support this,&#8221;<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ethresear.ch\/t\/based-rollups-superpowers-from-l1-sequencing\/15016\">Proposed<\/a> in March 2023 by developer Justin Drake, &#8220;based&#8221; rollups will eliminate the use of centralized sequencers.<\/p>\n<p>They will return the verification process to L1 and increase the network&#8217;s degree of decentralization \u2014 block creation will be carried out by all Ethereum validators.<\/p>\n<p>The so-called <em>&#8220;<\/em>native<em>&#8220;<\/em> rollups will improve the transaction execution process at the base level, making the blockchain <em>&#8220;<\/em>more composable<em>&#8220;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, L2s will lose a significant portion of revenue generated from MEV.<\/p>\n<p>According to Dune Analytics, at the time of writing, Arbitrum has received <a href=\"https:\/\/dune.com\/queries\/3626319\/6108315\">63,688 ETH<\/a> (~$195.5 million) in fees, while Base has received <a href=\"https:\/\/dune.com\/queries\/3626289\/6108291\">29,115 ETH<\/a> (~$89.4 million).<\/p>\n<p>The abandonment of centralized sequencers will result in an increase in transaction confirmation time from one to 12 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Several L2 project leaders, including Taiko CEO Daniel Wang, have advocated for the implementation of &#8220;FABRIC&#8221; \u2014 an infrastructure for launching &#8220;based&#8221; rollups and solving compatibility issues.<\/p>\n<p>Taiko<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/taiko-protocol-launches-on-ethereum-mainnet\"> employs Based Contestable Rollup<\/a> \u2014 a customizable rollup design with multiple proofs.<\/p>\n<p>In January, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated in a new article that the ecosystem will continue to scale primarily through L2 solutions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Representatives from leading Ethereum L2 projects have pledged to work on implementing so-called based rollups to enhance security and reduce network fragmentation.
