Beyond Solana, however, it supports only Bitcoin, Polygon, Sui, Ethereum and Base.<\/p>\n<p>For those who want a more universal option with support for popular blockchains, the mobile wallet <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/gemwallet.com\/ru\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gem Wallet<\/a> is worth a look. Together with the project team, we examine its capabilities and put it to the test.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Gem Wallet offers<\/h2>\n<p>Gem Wallet is an open-source wallet for <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/gem-wallet-crypto-bitcoin\/id6448712670\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iOS<\/a> and <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.gemwallet.android\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Android<\/a>. It is a non-custodial solution\u2014the owner retains full control of their funds. The app\u2019s source code is available on <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/gemwalletcom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GitHub<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of writing, Gem Wallet <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/gemwallet.com\/ru\/assets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>39 blockchains and L2 solutions, including The Open Network, TRON, Sui, NEAR, Dogecoin, Arbitrum, Base and Optimism;<\/li>\n<li>staking for Solana (SOL), BNB (BNB), Tron (TRX), Celestia (TIA), Cosmos (ATOM), Injective (INJ), Osmosis (OSMO), Polygon (POL), Sei (SEI) and Sui (SUI);<\/li>\n<li>stablecoins Ripple USD (RLUSD), Tether (USDT), USDC and DAI.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Gem Wallet team\u2019s plans for new features are public on the <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/orgs\/gemwalletcom\/projects\/4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">roadmap<\/a>. In particular, in the first quarter of 2025 the developers plan to add NFT support on Ethereum and Solana, as well as swaps on the TON and Sui networks.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cRight now we are focusing on building functionality comparable to competitors that launched three to four years earlier. All resources are directed towards this goal,\u201d the Gem Wallet developers comment.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Cryptography in the wallet is implemented using the <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/trustwallet\/wallet-core\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trust Wallet Core<\/a> library. Other functions (prices, notifications, etc.) are handled by the team\u2019s own <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/gemwalletcom\/core\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gem Wallet Core<\/a> library, written in Rust. According to the roadmap, in future the client will interact only with Gem Wallet Core.<\/p>\n<p>The wallet team has also implemented additional safety mechanisms to warn users about potential scams.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cA vivid example is <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/seed-phrases-in-youtube-comments-analysts-uncover-new-scam\">a multisig-wallet scam on TRON<\/a>. Users are given the seed phrase of a wallet with a certain amount of USDT, but it is impossible to withdraw those funds. We added a warning when importing such wallets so that, under no circumstances, do users top them up with their own assets,\u201d the developers state.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Staking is implemented through direct interaction with partner validators. To maintain decentralisation, we plan to recommend at least three partners for each coin. Gem Wallet does not charge additional fees for staking,\u201d the developers note.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>At the time of publication, Gem Wallet had been included in the wallet lists on the websites of <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/ethereum.org\/en\/wallets\/find-wallet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ethereum<\/a>, <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/solana.com\/solana-wallets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solana<\/a> and <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/ton.org\/en\/wallets?locale=en&#038;filters[wallet_devices][slug][$in]=mobile&#038;pagination[limit]=-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TON<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Testing the wallet<\/h2>\n<p>We tested the Android app: we received and sent SOL, and carried out a swap via a DEX.<\/p>\n<p>Gem Wallet supports 20 languages, including Russian and Ukrainian. After installation the app offers to create a new wallet or import an existing one. When importing an individual cryptocurrency, users can also choose the private key option or <span data-descr=\"that is, create a watch-only wallet \u2014 only for viewing the balance\" class=\"old_tooltip\">an address<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>When creating a new wallet the app generates a 12-word seed phrase. It should be written down on paper and stored safely, out of others\u2019 reach. The home screen shows the total balance, a list of favourite assets, and buttons to receive and send coins.<\/p>\n<p>Buying cryptocurrency with fiat is also available via Mercuryo, Ramp, MoonPay, Transak and Banxa. The minimum order is $20. We tapped \u201cReceive\u201d, selected Solana from the list of assets and sent 0.03 SOL to Gem Wallet. The funds arrived almost instantly.<\/p>\n<p>We then tapped \u201cSwap\u201d and searched for Official Trump (TRUMP). Tapping the TRUMP icon shows basic project information: price, capitalisation, circulating supply and a link to CoinGecko.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cGem Wallet allows both standard swaps within blockchains and cross-chain swaps via Thorchain. For example, users can directly swap BTC for USDT on the Ethereum network and back,\u201d the wallet\u2019s developers emphasise.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>After the swap we tested sending tokens. We selected TRUMP and entered the recipient\u2019s address, tapped \u201cContinue\u201d and moved to the fee selection. After three minutes, however, the transaction still had not hit the blockchain\u2014the app threw an error. A repeat transaction with the \u201cnormal\u201d fee settled in a matter of seconds.<\/p>\n<p>The Gem Wallet team regularly updates the <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.gemwallet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documentation<\/a>, adding educational materials on using the wallet and interacting with different blockchains.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusions<\/h2>\n<p><a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/gemwallet.com\/ru\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gem Wallet<\/a> is a non-custodial wallet with open-source code.
