Earnings per share came in at $4.31, 2.6 times the $1.81 consensus, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/coinbase-reports-strong-fourth-quarter-profit-crypto-rally-2025-02-13\/\">Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1-1436.webp\" alt=\"1-1436\" class=\"wp-image-251805\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Data: Coinbase.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Reuters cited <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/donald-trump-becomes-47th-president-of-the-united-states-implications-for-the-crypto-industry\">Donald Trump\u2019s victory<\/a> in the US presidential election and hopes for a shift to more crypto-friendly oversight as key drivers.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/gary-genslers-departure-a-retrospective-on-the-sec-chairs-tenure\">Gary Gensler stepped down<\/a> as chair of the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span>, having compared the industry to the \u201cWild West\u201d. The contender for the role is <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/trump-nominates-paul-atkins-as-sec-chair\">Paul Atkins<\/a>, who is positively disposed toward cryptocurrencies, the report noted.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cWe are entering a golden age for digital assets. We have an unprecedented opportunity to upgrade the financial system and strengthen economic freedom around the world,\u201d<\/em> <em>\u2014<\/em> said Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, commenting on the results.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trading activity was also buoyed by higher volatility, rising prices and new listings.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past three months, transaction revenue rose 172% to $1.56bn. On 13 February the stock closed up 8.4% at $298.1. Data: <a href=\"https:\/\/finviz.com\/quote.ashx?t=COIN&#038;p=d\">Finviz<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>JPMorgan expects the company to scale its operations several times over in the next five years thanks to a \u201cfavourable regulatory framework\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Ava Labs president John Wu noted that, compared with Robinhood, Coinbase offers far more tradable tokens, as well as services such as staking and access to stablecoins.<\/p>\n<p>He argues that to preserve market share, Coinbase will need to broaden its product line and diversify away from retail toward institutions.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Robinhood report<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On 12 February, online broker Robinhood<a href=\"https:\/\/investors.robinhood.com\/events\/event-details\/robinhood-q4-and-full-year-2024-earnings\"> said<\/a> crypto-trading revenue rose 487% quarter-on-quarter to $358m.
