Given Ethereum&#8217;s rollup-centric roadmap, the question arises whether expanding capacity is the right long-term solution, Buterin acknowledged.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cEven in a world where most activity is concentrated on L2, there is value in significant scaling, as it provides simpler and safer application development patterns,\u201d the programmer briefly responded.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As the main reasons for further increasing the limit, he pointed out:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>enhancing transaction censorship resistance \u2014 ensuring their inclusion in the blockchain as quickly as possible;<\/li>\n<li>simplifying and reducing the cost of moving assets between L2 protocols;<\/li>\n<li>enabling rapid mass withdrawal of funds from a \u201cbroken\u201d L2 to the base blockchain;<\/li>\n<li>ensuring large-scale and inexpensive issuance of ERC-20 tokens on L1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Expanding capacity also facilitates operations from wallets like <a href=\"https:\/\/vitalik.eth.limo\/general\/2023\/06\/09\/three_transitions.html#the-three-transitions-and-key-recovery\">Keystore<\/a> and accelerates interaction between L2s, Buterin added.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Reasons-to-have-higher-L1-gas-limits-even-in-an-L2-heavy-Ethereum-Google-Chrome.webp\" alt=\"Reasons-to-have-higher-L1-gas-limits-even-in-an-L2-heavy-Ethereum-Google-Chrome\" class=\"wp-image-251822\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Assessment of gas needs for various operations with modern technologies, improved solutions, and maximum necessary availability.
