{"id":21303,"date":"2025-02-19T15:12:57","date_gmt":"2025-02-19T13:12:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/sec-to-review-applications-for-listing-three-ethereum-etf-options\/"},"modified":"2025-02-19T15:12:57","modified_gmt":"2025-02-19T13:12:57","slug":"sec-to-review-applications-for-listing-three-ethereum-etf-options","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/sec-to-review-applications-for-listing-three-ethereum-etf-options\/","title":{"rendered":"SEC to Review Applications for Listing Three Ethereum-ETF Options"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-descr=\"Chicago Board Options Exchange\" class=\"old_tooltip\">CBOE<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/files\/rules\/sro\/cboe\/2025\/34-102442.pdf\">submitted<\/a> an application to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the listing of options on three spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) based on the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.<\/p>\n<p>These include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF;<\/li>\n<li>Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF;<\/li>\n<li>Bitwise Ethereum ETF.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The agency has requested public comments. The feedback period will last 21 days following the document&#8217;s publication in the federal register.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2024, the New York Stock Exchange approached the SEC with a <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/nyse-plans-to-launch-options-on-ethereum-etfs\">proposal<\/a> to amend rules that would allow it to list and provide trading options based on spot Ethereum-ETFs from Bitwise and Grayscale.<\/p>\n<p>In November, the regulator <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/sec-postpones-decision-on-spot-ethereum-etf-options-again\">postponed<\/a> the review of the application.<\/p>\n<p>In January 2025, CBOE, on behalf of ARK Invest and 21Shares, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/cboe-proposes-rule-change-for-ark-21shares-btc-etf-and-eth-etf\">filed an application<\/a> to change the structure of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs to permit redemption of assets in kind.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, ConsenSys founder Joe Lubin <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/joe-lubin-anticipates-imminent-approval-for-eth-etf-staking\">suggested<\/a> the &#8220;imminent&#8221; approval of staking for ETH-ETF.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Nasdaq <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/nasdaq-to-list-options-on-blackrocks-spot-bitcoin-etf\">launched trading<\/a> of options on BlackRock&#8217;s spot BTC-ETF (IBIT).<\/p>\n<p>Less than two months later, open interest in IBIT derivatives <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/open-interest-in-options-on-blackrocks-ibit-nears-half-of-deribits\">reached<\/a> half the level on Deribit.<\/p>\n<p>Back in January, Nasdaq, on behalf of BlackRock, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/nasdaq-proposes-rule-change-for-blackrocks-bitcoin-etf\">filed an application<\/a> to change the instrument&#8217;s structure to allow redemption of assets in kind.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CBOE submitted an application to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the listing of options on three spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) based on the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
