{"id":21338,"date":"2025-02-20T12:30:53","date_gmt":"2025-02-20T10:30:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/ten-stablecoin-issuers-secure-mica-licenses\/"},"modified":"2025-02-20T12:30:53","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T10:30:53","slug":"ten-stablecoin-issuers-secure-mica-licenses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/ten-stablecoin-issuers-secure-mica-licenses\/","title":{"rendered":"Ten Stablecoin Issuers Secure MiCA Licenses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ten companies have received approval to issue stablecoins in the European Economic Area (EEA) under MiCA regulations.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">???? 50-??? ?????? ??????: ???? ???? ?? ?????????? ?????????? ??????? &#038; ??????? ????????? ??<\/p>\n<p>50 days after MiCA\u2019s full entry into application, here\u2019s where we stand according to the latest ESMA interim\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OG7WwMProh\">pic.twitter.com\/OG7WwMProh<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Patrick Hansen (@paddi_hansen) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/paddi_hansen\/status\/1892182713345737006?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 19, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Patrick Hansen, Circle&#8217;s Senior Director for Strategy and Policy in the EU, noted that 50 days after the rules came into full effect, the list of approved issuers includes:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Banking Circle;<\/li>\n<li>Circle;<\/li>\n<li>Crypto.com;<\/li>\n<li>Fiat Republic;<\/li>\n<li>Membrane Finance;<\/li>\n<li>Quantoz Payments;<\/li>\n<li>Schuman Financial;<\/li>\n<li>Societe Generale;<\/li>\n<li>StabIR;<\/li>\n<li>Stable Mint.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Five companies, in addition to euro-pegged stablecoins, have issued coins based on the US dollar.<\/p>\n<p>Notably absent from the list is Tether, the issuer of USDT with a capitalization of $141.7 billion. In August 2024, the company&#8217;s CEO, Paolo Ardoino, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-ceo-criticises-mica-as-a-threat-to-stablecoins-and-banking\">criticized<\/a> MiCA for creating a &#8220;systemic risk&#8221; not only for stablecoins but also for the banking system as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>In November, Tether <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-to-cease-support-for-eurt\">ceased support<\/a> for its euro-pegged stablecoin EURT.
