This procedure has previously preceded the launch of a product.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"zxx\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ywSwq8SGIl\">pic.twitter.com\/ywSwq8SGIl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Phoenix \u00bb PhoenixNews.io (@PhoenixNewsIO) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PhoenixNewsIO\/status\/1892704416207126763?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 20, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The exchange-traded fund still requires approval from the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>On February 6, the regulator also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/339313\/sec-makes-its-move-and-asks-public-for-comments-on-grayscales-litecoin-etf\">requested comments<\/a> regarding the conversion of Grayscale Litecoin Trust into an ETF.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of VanEck&#8217;s spot Ethereum ETF, the fund began trading on the <span data-descr=\"Chicago Board Options Exchange\" class=\"old_tooltip\">CBOE<\/span> approximately two months after the product appeared on the DTCC list in May 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Following the news, the price of Litecoin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/litecoin\">rose by 3.4%<\/a> over the past day, while the market as a whole fell by 0.5%. At the time of writing, the coin is trading at $134.2 with a market capitalization of $10.1 billion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>XRP ETF<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On February 20, the SEC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2025\/02\/20\/2025-02823\/self-regulatory-organizations-nyse-arca-inc-notice-of-filing-of-proposed-rule-change-as-modified-by\">accepted for review<\/a> an application to convert the Grayscale XRP Trust into an ETF.<\/p>\n<p>Interested parties have 21 days to comment. The regulator is expected to approve, reject, or extend the review period of the document until October 18.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the agency confirmed the submission of several applications for an XRP ETF from Canary Capital, WisdomTree, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitwise-files-for-spot-xrp-etf-registration\">Bitwise<\/a>, CoinShares, and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/21shares-seeks-sec-approval-for-spot-xrp-etf\">21Shares<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prospects for XRP and LTC<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Litecoin could become the third cryptocurrency after Bitcoin and Ethereum to have an ETF in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>According to Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas, it is likely that the LTC ETF <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bloomberg-analyst-sees-strong-odds-of-a-litecoin-etf-approval\">will become<\/a> the next fund registered by the Commission.<\/p>\n<p>His colleague James Seyffart also believes that the LTC ETF will be approved before the XRP-based instrument, considering the ambiguous status of Ripple&#8217;s asset in the U.S.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In March 2024, the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">CFTC<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/224102\/litecoin-price-spikes-cftc-calls-commodity-bitcoin-ethereum\">declared Litecoin a commodity<\/a> during a lawsuit against the KuCoin exchange, which triggered an 11% daily increase in the cryptocurrency. This status gives LTC an advantage in terms of potential regulatory resistance.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, SEC&#8217;s crypto group head Hester Peirce stated that the structure&#8217;s priorities include determining which assets are not securities and creating a clear procedure for registering new tokens.<\/p>\n<p>The SEC is also focused on <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/solana-reaches-all-time-high-amid-four-sol-etf-listing-applications\">five applications<\/a> for a Solana ETF from VanEck, 21Shares, Canary, Bitwise, and Grayscale.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Balchunas and Seyffart estimated a 65-90% chance of approval by October for exchange-traded funds based on Litecoin, Dogecoin, Solana, and XRP.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Proposed by Canary Capital in January, the spot Litecoin ETF has appeared in the asset list of the DTCC.
