{"id":21397,"date":"2025-02-21T16:07:53","date_gmt":"2025-02-21T14:07:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/societe-generale-expands-eurcv-stablecoin-to-stellar-network\/"},"modified":"2025-02-21T16:07:53","modified_gmt":"2025-02-21T14:07:53","slug":"societe-generale-expands-eurcv-stablecoin-to-stellar-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/societe-generale-expands-eurcv-stablecoin-to-stellar-network\/","title":{"rendered":"Societe Generale Expands EURCV Stablecoin to Stellar Network"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Forge, a subsidiary of Societe Generale regulated as a <span data-descr=\"digital asset service provider\" class=\"old_tooltip\">DASP<\/span>, has added Stellar to the networks supported by its stablecoin, EUR CoinVertible (EURCV).<\/p>\n<p>The token was initially issued on Ethereum.<\/p>\n<p>This MiCA-compliant stablecoin is designed for <span data-descr=\"traditional financial institutions\" class=\"old_tooltip\">TradFi<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Stellar&#8217;s capabilities, including its built-in DEX and support for asset tokenization, will enable the integration of EURCV into various financial applications and services.<\/p>\n<p>Stablecoin holders will gain &#8220;direct access to collateral.&#8221; The collateralized euros will be held in a trust fund managed by a third party.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Forge was included in the list of MiCA-approved issuers alongside nine other organizations. Notably, Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin with a market capitalization of $141.7 billion, is absent from this list.<\/p>\n<p>In November, the company <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-to-cease-support-for-eurt\">ceased support<\/a> for the euro-pegged stablecoin EURT.<\/p>\n<p>In the EU, the firm decided to focus on developing third-party projects such as MiCA license holders <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/kraken-and-tether-back-launch-of-eu-regulated-stablecoins\">Quantoz Payments<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tether-invests-in-stablr-to-boost-stablecoin-adoption-in-europe\">StablR<\/a>, as well as promoting its RWA platform <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/traditional-finance-to-propel-rwa-market-growth-says-expert-tether-joins-the-fray\">Hadron<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The issuer of USDC, the main competitor to USDT, Circle <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/circle-secures-first-mica-compliant-stablecoin-license\">received approval<\/a> to issue stablecoins in the <span data-descr=\"European Economic Area\" class=\"old_tooltip\">EEA<\/span> back in July.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Kaiko estimated that by November 2024, MiCA-compliant stablecoins would capture a record <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/kaiko-highlights-2024-in-ten-best-charts\">market share of 91%.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Forge, a subsidiary of Societe Generale regulated as a DASP, has added Stellar to the networks supported by its stablecoin, EUR CoinVertible (EURCV).
