{"id":21549,"date":"2025-02-26T19:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-26T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/ondo-finance-joins-mastercards-blockchain-initiative\/"},"modified":"2025-02-26T19:00:00","modified_gmt":"2025-02-26T17:00:00","slug":"ondo-finance-joins-mastercards-blockchain-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/ondo-finance-joins-mastercards-blockchain-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"Ondo Finance Joins Mastercard&#8217;s Blockchain Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The real-world asset tokenization project Ondo Finance has <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ondo.finance\/ondo-finance-brings-tokenized-real-world-assets-to-mastercards-multi-token-network\/\">joined<\/a> Mastercard&#8217;s Multi-Token Network (MTN) blockchain system as part of a new partnership.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses participating in the network will gain access to tokenized assets through the company&#8217;s investment product based on the Ondo\u2019s Short-Term US Government Treasuries Fund (OUSG).<\/p>\n<p>According to the press release, a &#8220;large portion&#8221; of OUSG assets is backed by the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL), short-term US Treasury bonds, and GSE funds from Franklin Templeton, WisdomTree, Wellington Management, and Fundbridge Capital.<\/p>\n<p>Trials of the MTN blockchain began in 2023 with tokenized bank deposits. Mastercard aims to build a scalable infrastructure for cross-border payments and tokenized liquidity operations.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;What makes this partnership significant is that it enables settlements between different banks around the clock, on traditional financial rails and for many institutions,&#8221; noted Ondo Finance&#8217;s Chief Strategy Officer Ian De Bode in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mastercard.com\/news\/perspectives\/2025\/ondo-finance-and-tokenized-u-s-treasuries\/\">Mastercard Newsroom<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to him, investment products like tokenized stocks and ETFs will appear on public blockchains &#8220;much sooner than people think.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Bitfinex Securities COO Jesse Knutson opined that traditional financial institutions <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/traditional-finance-to-propel-rwa-market-growth-says-expert-tether-joins-the-fray\">will become<\/a> the main driver of growth for the asset tokenization market.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The real-world asset tokenization project Ondo Finance has joined Mastercard&#8217;s Multi-Token Network (MTN) blockchain system as part of a new partnership.
