The final date will be determined during the All Core Developers conference on March 6th.<\/p>\n<p>Developers simulated a load in the testnet close to the main network&#8217;s parameters.<\/p>\n<p>The activation of Pectra in Sepolia follows similar actions<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereums-pectra-update-on-holesky-testnet-faces-setbacks\"> in Holesky on February 24th<\/a>, which at one point led to a slot finalization failure &#8220;due to a configuration issue on three main clients.&#8221; Specialists released a software update.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the bugs discovered, the team did not postpone the deployment of the update in Sepolia.<\/p>\n<p>Pectra is formed from the names of two previously planned updates, Prague (<span data-descr=\"responsible for transaction processing and smart contract execution\" class=\"old_tooltip\">for the execution layer<\/span>) and Electra (<span data-descr=\"responsible for ensuring blockchain security and consistency\" class=\"old_tooltip\">for the consensus layer<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p><span data-descr=\"Ethereum Improvement Proposals, proposals for improving Ethereum\" class=\"old_tooltip\">EIPs<\/span> include improvements in account abstraction, make significant changes to validator operations, and aim to enhance overall network performance.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the security team <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/vitalik-buterin-justin-drake-and-other-developers-discuss-ethereums-future\">launched<\/a> a bounty program for stress testing the hard fork until March 24th, with a prize pool of $2 million.<\/p>\n<p>Ethereum faces <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/jpmorgan-analysts-highlight-ethereums-competitive-threats\">\u201cintense competition\u201d<\/a> from rival blockchain projects like Solana, according to JPMorgan analysts.<\/p>\n<p>In February, developers <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-consider-accelerating-network-upgrades\">noted<\/a> the feasibility of reducing the frequency of network update activations from one year to six months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On March 5th, the Ethereum team activated the Pectra hard fork on the Sepolia test network.
