Developers identified a bug and released a patch to resolve it.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Well, seems like I jinxed it ? This led to failures in including transactions in blocks,\u201d<\/em> <em>\u2014<\/em> stated Ethereum Foundation&#8217;s <span data-descr=\"Ethereum Foundation\" class=\"old_tooltip\">EF<\/span> protocol support lead Tim Beiko.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The issue stemmed from the peculiarities of the contract, which emitted two events (transfer + deposit) instead of one. As a result, some <span data-descr=\"execution layer - \u0443\u0440\u043e\u0432\u0435\u043d\u044c \u0438\u0441\u043f\u043e\u043b\u043d\u0435\u043d\u0438\u044f\" class=\"old_tooltip\">EL<\/span> clients \u201cchoked\u201d and stopped including transactions.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">pectra fork on sepolia went live, then things got weird<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 looked fine at first, then blocks started closing with 0 txs<br \/>\u2014 turns out sepolia\u2019s deposit contract emits two events (transfer + deposit) instead of one<br \/>\u2014 some execution clients choked on it, txs stopped getting included\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/eyCGAon8GI\">pic.twitter.com\/eyCGAon8GI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rohit | Okto ?\u26d3\ufe0f | Orchestrating Web3 (@rrohit689) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rrohit689\/status\/1897269388728008942?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 5, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>It took six hours to fix the bug.<\/p>\n<p>The activation of Pectra in Sepolia <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereums-pectra-update-on-holesky-testnet-faces-setbacks\">followed<\/a> similar actions in Holesky on February 24, which at one point led to slot finalization failures \u201cdue to a configuration issue on three major clients.\u201d Specialists also had to release a software update.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the discovered bugs, the team did not postpone the deployment of the update in Sepolia.<\/p>\n<p>Pectra is formed from the names of two previously planned hard forks, Prague (for the <span data-descr=\"\u043e\u0442\u0432\u0435\u0447\u0430\u0435\u0442 \u0437\u0430 \u043e\u0431\u0440\u0430\u0431\u043e\u0442\u043a\u0443 \u0442\u0440\u0430\u043d\u0437\u0430\u043a\u0446\u0438\u0439 \u0438 \u0432\u044b\u043f\u043e\u043b\u043d\u0435\u043d\u0438\u0435 \u0441\u043c\u0430\u0440\u0442-\u043a\u043e\u043d\u0442\u0440\u0430\u043a\u0442\u043e\u0432\" class=\"old_tooltip\">execution layer<\/span>) and Electra (for the <span data-descr=\"\u043e\u0442\u0432\u0435\u0447\u0430\u0435\u0442 \u0437\u0430 \u043e\u0431\u0435\u0441\u043f\u0435\u0447\u0435\u043d\u0438\u0435 \u0431\u0435\u0437\u043e\u043f\u0430\u0441\u043d\u043e\u0441\u0442\u0438 \u0438 \u0441\u043e\u0433\u043b\u0430\u0441\u043e\u0432\u0430\u043d\u043d\u043e\u0441\u0442\u0438 \u0431\u043b\u043e\u043a\u0447\u0435\u0439\u043d\u0430\" class=\"old_tooltip\">consensus layer<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>EIPs include improvements in account abstraction, introduce significant changes to validator operations, and aim to enhance overall network performance.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the security team <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/vitalik-buterin-justin-drake-and-other-developers-discuss-ethereums-future\">launched<\/a> a bounty program for stress-testing the hard fork until March 24, with a prize pool of $2 million.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts at JPMorgan believe Ethereum faces <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/jpmorgan-analysts-highlight-ethereums-competitive-threats\">\u201cintense competition\u201d<\/a> from rival blockchain projects like Solana.<\/p>\n<p>In February, developers <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-consider-accelerating-network-upgrades\">noted<\/a> the advisability of reducing the frequency of network upgrade activations from a year to six months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On March 5, the Sepolia test network ceased processing transactions for several hours following the implementation of the Pectra hard fork.
