Mackenzie, the new feature &#8220;will comply with existing regulations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the platform will offer contracts predicting the upper limit of the <span data-descr=\"Federal Reserve System of the United States\" class=\"old_tooltip\">Fed&#8217;s<\/span> target rate in May, as well as the results of men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s college basketball tournaments.<\/p>\n<p>Mackenzie stated that the company views prediction markets as an important tool at the intersection of economics, politics, sports, and culture.<\/p>\n<p>The prediction market will initially launch across the United States through the regulated <span data-descr=\"Commodity Futures Trading Commission of the United States\" class=\"old_tooltip\">CFTC<\/span> exchange KalshiEX LLC.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;Over the past few weeks, we have worked closely with [the regulator] and look forward to continuing our collaboration to promote innovation in futures, derivatives, and cryptocurrency markets,&#8221; stated the Robinhood press release.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Back in March, the broker <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/robinhood-to-pay-29-75-million-to-settle-finra-claims\">agreed<\/a> to pay a $29.75 million fine to settle claims by the <span data-descr=\"Financial Industry Regulatory Authority in the United States\" class=\"old_tooltip\">FINRA<\/span> related to supervisory and regulatory compliance violations.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the CFTC <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/cftc-seeks-coinbase-customer-data-in-polymarket-probe\">requested<\/a> client data from the Coinbase exchange as part of an investigation into the Polymarket betting platform, initiated at the end of 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Online broker Robinhood announced the launch of a prediction market within its app. Users will be able to enter contracts based on the outcomes of major global events.
