This was reported by the local publication <a href=\"https:\/\/pulsmedia.md\/article\/d25b3dedcc3d382a\/preot-din-soroca-fraierit-de-peste-jumatate-de-milion-de-lei-dupa-ce-a-investit-in-criptovaluta.html\">PulsMedia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Between January 13 and February 25, the victim transferred funds to a purported investment crypto platform. The fraudsters assured the man of the deal&#8217;s profitability and then vanished with the money.<\/p>\n<p>The police have launched an investigation to determine all the circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>In February, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/raids-conducted-in-moldovan-cities-over-cryptocurrency-exchange-fraud\">searches began<\/a> in Moldovan cities related to cryptocurrency exchange fraud.<\/p>\n<p>In January, law enforcement <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitmama-faces-up-to-10-years-in-prison\">charged<\/a> Valeria Fedyakina, known by the nickname Bitmama, in a case involving the theft of cryptocurrencies and fiat worth 2.2 billion rubles.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2024, a resident of Chernomorsk was <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/chornomorsk-resident-defrauded-in-bitcoin-purchase\">defrauded<\/a> while purchasing bitcoin for 43,000 hryvnias.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 69-year-old priest from the Moldovan city of Soroca lost over 575,000 lei (~$32,033) after investing in cryptocurrency.
