ForkLog (FL): Will bitcoin reach $100,000 or $1m?<\/strong><\/p>\n

William Delbert Gann:<\/strong> Bitcoin will clear $100,000 under a favourable alignment (for instance, with Pluto in Aquarius). As for $1m, that is still a long way off \u2014 the stars say it is not a matter of the next few years.<\/p>\n

FL: When should we expect the next bull run?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Louis de Wohl<\/strong>: The next bull trend is likely when Jupiter enters a fire sign. I reckon around 2027 the market will start to surge again. But the stars show, first, you should not wait to invest (bitcoin has sufficiently strong \u201cinnate\u201d qualities), and second, you should not be greedy: this period will be historically unstable.<\/p>\n

FL: Will Ethereum become more valuable than bitcoin?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Evelyn De Morgan<\/strong>: Thanks to advances in biotech and crypto, a currency will emerge with which you can pay for, and extend, a subscription to immortality.<\/p>\n

FL: Finally: which question went unasked, though it should have been?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Evelyn De Morgan<\/strong>: It would have been worth asking whether bitcoin is the beginning of a new religion. Because the answer is \u201cyes\u201d.<\/p>\n

Part two. Esoteric and occult<\/h2>\n

After dismissing the spirits and sprinkling the keyboard with calendula tincture, I turned to data. My question was simple: do crypto prices depend on the phases of the Moon? And if so, can one trade by a lunar calendar \u2014 buy on the waxing Moon, sell on the waning one, and on the full Moon flash a cold wallet at the sky?<\/p>\n

Armed with a historical price dataset<\/a> and a couple of spells for Excel, I returned to ChatGPT \u2014 a 24\/7 channel to the beyond. The goal: compile a lunar trading calendar to, quite literally, run a \u201cmoon\u2011to\u2011moon\u201d strategy.<\/p>\n

The dataset description says it contains price histories of 23 of the most influential cryptocurrencies from 2013 to mid\u20112021 \u2014 roughly 100 lunar cycles. The chatbot located a lunar\u2011phase calendar on its own. For broader analysis I counted the day before and the day after each phase change, including them in the price analytics.<\/p>\n

Overall conclusion<\/h3>\n

The analytics suggest that on a waxing Moon markets more often perk up, and on a waning Moon they exhale \u2014 confirming an earlier study<\/a> by Binance user DBF_CONFIDENCE<\/a>. Naturally, it is not that simple, and it does not apply to all coins equally. For example, in our sample bitcoin rose in about ~55% of cases around new moons versus ~40% around full moons. Ethereum showed similar numbers (~52% versus ~38%). For some altcoins the effect was more pronounced.<\/p>\n

Those that were especially \u201clunar\u2011sensitive\u201d included TRON \u2014 up in ~57% of cases; Aave and EOS also tended to cheer up under a young Moon. Sceptics will say: \u201cSo what, 50\/50 plus a margin of error.\u201d But, for instance, Polkadot clearly hews to the lunar cycle: around new moons it printed \u201cgreen\u201d roughly 70% of the time. Coincidence? I do not think so\u2026<\/p>\n

Below are the eight phases of the Moon, a trading hint, and coins for which such tactics historically skewed positive. Percentages reflect the approximate share of cases when prices moved in the predicted direction for a given phase.<\/p>\n

      I set aside the crystal ball, snuffed out the candles and, just in case, made a wish \u2014 bitcoin at $1m. That\u2019s all. In case Satoshi was somewhere nearby, I saluted with two fingers to the temple. Then I exhaled, finished my cold calendula tea and opened the market analytics.<\/p>\n

      As much as one might wish to live in a world where a retrograde Mercury explains a dump and a waxing crescent guarantees a pump, reality is a shade more complicated. Yes, lunar phases revealed intriguing regularities. Yes, some coins are surprisingly sensitive to celestial cycles. But let\u2019s be honest: the Moon is the market\u2019s poetry, not its driving force.<\/p>\n

      And you certainly should not entrust your portfolio\u2019s fate to those who do not hold their own hardware wallet and do not know what a stop\u2011loss is. Spirits are subtle and all\u2011knowing, but they are not the ones who rage\u2011tweet into a bear market. The Moon is a grand thing, but it has still never passed KYC<\/span>.<\/p>\n
